When do I apply?

How often can I apply for a Badekur?
Every 3 years or annually if medically necessary.
How long is an open Badekur?
14 or 21 days.
Where do I apply?
With your GP, who carries no disadvantages through this.
What happens then?
Your health insurer will check the application and cover the costs of the medical examination.
What costs are covered?
Your health insurer pays for 90% of the treatment costs. A one-time prescription fee of 10,- € must be paid for each prescription. The allowance for your hotel stay is 15,- € per guest and day. You will receive this once you have finished your Badekur.
Can my partner join me?
If your partner has not applied for a Kur, they can pay for the treatments themselves or book the Kur services on a "Chipcard". Alternatively, your partner can book one of our regular rates.
What if my application is denied?
LODGE AN OBJECTION! We have found that 50% of applications are denied at first, but approved once an objection is lodged.
What happens once my application is approved?
You get a form from your GP and can then book your stay with us.
We can handle this for you:
We can book an appointment with the Kur Doctor. After the initial medical examination, we can arrange appointments for massages, Fango, underwater gymnastics, and/or physiotherapy in the Rottal Terme® or in a neighbouring practice.
Only with the Badekur can you really save money and 'actively' do something for your health. Massages, Fango and physiotherapy are preventative measures, that can be applied for as health benefits.
You have the right to a preventative measure from your health insurer every 2 years. You only have to make sure to apply for a Badekur. There are no better or cheaper options for you to actively support your health.

The Rottal Terme can offer this preventative measure (in accordance with §20 SGB V) to our hotel guests in a compact form.
The Aqua Fit Course is a varied underwater gymnastic training carried out in a group setting. It consists of 8 units for a duration of 45 minutes each. These cost € 136,- total and include 8 entries into the Therapy Baths of the Rottal Terme for 3 hours each (plus an extension of 60 minutes with your guest card).
When you take part in at least 6 out of 8 units, your health insurer will cover up to 80% of the costs (up to a maximum of € 75,-. This can differ between health insurance providers).
All together you will receive:
- 8 units of water gymnastics
- incl. 8x 4 hours Thermalbaths
Important: Please confirm the type of course and coverage of the costs by your health insurance provider before you begin treatment. A prerequisite to take part is a good physical condition.
Bad Birnbach – the best antidote to stress and chronic pain!
This formula is now more valid than ever, as together with the Ludwig-Maximilians-University Munich (LMU), we have discovered the scientific proof of how to avoid the dreaded consequences of stress.
The goal was always to develop a compact Kur that wpuld be accepted by all German health insurance providers: AGES - Aktiv gegen Erschöpfung und Stress (Active against Exhaustion and Stress). AGES is also available as a private offer.
AGES works like this:
During your first stay (for a duration of 14 days) you learn all about movement and relaxation techniques, either through exercises in the healing waters of the Rottal Terme, through practical direction from experienced therapists in nordic walking, archery and golf* or through muscle relaxation in the method of Jacobson. Besides orthopedic results, we also successfully implement psychoeducational units in the group.
*(Golf is not covered by your health insurance, but can be added for a small additional fee.)
Important: So that the success of the cure is confirmed, you will be reminded of the different elements after half a year in a one week long refresher treatment.
